Job Description:
A teacher at Better Life Academy is responsible for delivering customized educational programs to students with diverse learning needs. Because if a child can’t learn the way we teach, we should teach the way they learn. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth.Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Classroom Management:
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
- Utilize ABA strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
- Implement Behavior Treatment Plans
Instructional Delivery:
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to engage students.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instruction as needed.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with clinical staff to support student development.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing parent conferences on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices in special education and related fields.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain certification and adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited University.
- Or: A minimum of 3 years experience providing instruction to Unique Ability Students in a classroom setting.
- Or: A minimum of 3 years experience with Unique Ability Students.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using assistive technologies and adaptive equipment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with unique abilities.
