Job Description:

A teacher at Better Life Academy is responsible for delivering customized educational programs to students with diverse learning needs. Because if a child can’t learn the way we teach, we should teach the way they learn. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

Classroom Management:

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
  • Utilize ABA strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Implement Behavior Treatment Plans

Instructional Delivery:

  • Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to engage students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instruction as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with clinical staff to support student development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing parent conferences on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events.

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with best practices in special education and related fields.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain certification and adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited University.
  • Or: A minimum of 3 years experience providing instruction to Unique Ability Students in a classroom setting.
  • Or: A minimum of 3 years experience with Unique Ability Students.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using assistive technologies and adaptive equipment.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with unique abilities.
