Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Job Description:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for providing direct implementation of behavior-analytic services to clients. The RBT has a certificate from the BACB, works under the supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA and follows specific treatment plans to address behavioral challenges and skill deficits.Key Responsibilities:
Direct Implementation of Treatment Plans:
- Deliver ABA therapy sessions according to the treatment plans designed by the supervising BCBA or BCaBA.
- Implement behavior intervention plans to address challenging behaviors and teach new skills.
Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect accurate and detailed data on client behaviors and progress during each session.
- Record data in an organized manner for analysis by the supervising BCBA or BCaBA.
Client and Caregiver Interaction:
- Work closely with clients to build rapport and create a positive therapeutic environment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development and school events.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
Behavior Management:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during therapy sessions.
- Follow ethical guidelines and standards of practice in all interactions with clients.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Adhere to RBT guidelines and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification: Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (preferred)
- If no certification: Must be willing to complete a 40 hour course and pass RBT certification exam
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus
- Skills:
- Strong observational and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.
- Basic understanding of ABA principles and techniques.
